Statement
My name is Angela Maloney. I am of the Ta'neezahnii (Tangle/Ladder People). Born for the To Dich'ii'nii (Bitterwater People). Maternal grandfather is Ashiihi (Salt People). Paternal grandfather is Tse Deeshgiizhnii (Rock Gap People). Born and raised on the Navajo Nation I am a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother. I have a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science and Allied Health from Northern Arizona University, and a Masters Degree in Public Health from Loma Linda University. I spent over 40 years working for Indian Health Services, the Bureau for Indian Affairs, and at the Tuba City Medical Center. Healthcare is a human right. I have witnessed the effects of lack of access to healthcare facilities and spent my career expanding/improving healthcare infrastructure across the Navajo Nation.
Biography
Angela Maloney was born and raised on the Navajo Nation. She attended boarding schools growing up, and earned a Master of Public Health degree from Loma Linda University. Angela had a 40 year career in public and environmental health and she was part of the team that worked to contain the hantavirus outbreak in 1993. She also accomplished major road safety improvements on State Route 89 through research and advocacy during her time with the Indian Health Service.
