Cookie Policy

Manage your choices

You can change or withdraw your consent at any time. Necessary cookies cannot be turned off because the site cannot function without them.

What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies — such as the browser's local storage — work the same way. Cookies let a site remember your actions and preferences (and, for some categories, measure usage) over time. This policy covers all such technologies, which we refer to collectively as "cookies."

Who places cookies on this site?

First-party cookies and local storage are set by us, the Arizona Ballot Guide, and are used only to operate the site (for example, remembering your theme and your cookie choices).

Third-party cookies are set by external providers we use for analytics — currently Google (Google Analytics). These load only after you consent to the matching category. We also use Vercel for first-party, cookieless performance metrics, which does not store cookies or identify you.

Necessary vs. consent-based cookies

Strictly necessary cookies are essential for the site to work and do not require consent. All other categories — currently analytics — are off by default and are placed only after you opt in. Refusing is as easy as accepting, and you can change your mind at any time.

How to manage cookies

  • On this site: use the consent banner shown on your first visit, or the link (also in the footer) to accept, reject, or change categories at any time.
  • In your browser: you can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Google provides an analytics opt-out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Blocking necessary cookies may prevent parts of the site from working as intended.

Retention periods

Individual cookie lifetimes are listed in the tables above. Consent itself is stored on your device, and we will ask you to confirm your choices again no later than every 13 months, or sooner if this policy changes materially. You can clear your stored consent at any time by rejecting cookies or clearing your browser storage.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When categories or providers change materially, we update the date above and re-request your consent.
