Statement
With six years on the Tempe Union High School District Governing Board, Armando brings pragmatic leadership that blends a fresh perspective with policy expertise and governing experience. His platform includes a focus on public education, affordability, quality affordable healthcare, and water conservation. As a school board president, Armando has seen the impacts of cuts to public education and will champion education reform to improve quality and outcomes in education and fully fund our public schools, including placing guardrails and accountability on Arizona's ESA program. To lower costs, he will lead investments in childcare, workforce development, and affordable housing without cutting back on vital services like public safety or health care. He will work to protect and expand healthcare coverage for low-income and working families, defend reproductive rights, and increase funding for mental health services. Finally, Armando will work to secure our water future by strengthening oversight in groundwater use, supporting investments in water technology and infrastructure, and prioritizing the needs of Arizonans over out-of-state corporations. Armando has been recognized nationally for his leadership on the school board and is running for the Arizona State House to get real results for Arizona families.
Biography
Raised here in Arizona, Armando Montero is a product of our public schools and made history as the youngest person elected to the Tempe Union High School District Governing Board. He was later elected President four times, leading the Board through restructuring to increase accountability and transparency. Now, he is running for the Arizona State House to get things done for Arizona families. Armando earned three degrees from ASU and is pursuing his Juris Doctorate (JD). He worked as a Senior Planning Analyst at ASU and serves on several non-profit boards, including the Arizona School Boards Association.
