Barbara Fike

Candidate for Arizona State House – District 28

Arizona · Legislative District 28

Statement

I am an Arizonan to my soul. My mother was born in Clarkdale six years after Arizona gained statehood. I was born and raised in West Phoenix, where I had to pass an Arizona Constitution test to graduate from 8th grade. I have studied and taught history and government for decades. I have respect and reverence for what the founders of the US and of Arizona hoped to create for the future we find ourselves in now. But I fear we've veered away from their vision. We need to prioritize education the way our forefathers built public schools into land grants as our country grew. We need to take pride again in our blend of cultures, especially in Arizona! We need to protect the land and our beautiful national parks for future generations, and ensure that water is used wisely so there will be future generations. We need a legislature that will stop playing politics to enrich themselves and their friends and actually govern instead. We owe Arizona that.
