Biography
Charles Eakins is a certified write-in candidate for the Arizona House of Representatives in Legislative District 1, running as a Libertarian. His name will not be printed on the November 3, 2026 ballot; voters who wish to support him must write in his name. Born in Phoenix and raised in Pine, he is a software engineer who says he has spent more than 25 years building backend systems, test automation and hardware firmware, and wrote GridWalker, a free open-source app for wilderness search and rescue. He says he entered the race after Rep. Quang Nguyen blocked him on social media accounts used for legislative business. His campaign opposes Nguyen's 2026 bill HB2412, which would have made threats and harassment against public officials and employees felonies, and promotes a draft bill he wrote to give people claiming self-defense a pretrial immunity hearing. The candidates printed on the ballot are Republican incumbents Selina Bliss and Quang Nguyen and Democrat Sandy Zalecki.
