Biography
Gary Swing is the Green Party nominee for Arizona's 6th Congressional District and a Tucson resident. He describes himself as a perennial alternative-party candidate who appeared on the ballot seven times as a Green Party candidate in Colorado and Arizona between 1996 and 2018, and three times as a Unity Party of Colorado candidate between 2020 and 2024. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in political science from the University of Colorado and has worked as a public policy research assistant, a cultural events promoter, a U.S. postal carrier and a grocery produce receiver. He is a former co-chair of the Colorado Coalition for Fair and Open Elections. His platform calls for cutting the military budget by 90%, abolishing nuclear weapons, Medicare for All, a universal basic income, abolishing ICE and electing Congress by proportional representation. He did not take part in the September 10, 2026 Clean Elections debate, which included only the major-party candidates. Swing won the July 21, 2026 Green Party primary as a write-in candidate and faces Republican incumbent Juan Ciscomani, Democrat JoAnna Mendoza, Libertarian Jereme Peters and independent write-in Michael Dorland in the November 3, 2026 general election.
