Biography

Gerry Friedel is the incumbent Mayor of Fountain Hills, sworn in as the town's ninth mayor in 2024 after about four and a half years on the Town Council. He spent nearly four decades in banking and finance as a loan officer and financial planner, holding a degree in bank management/finance from North Central College and a certificate in financial planning from Loyola. Originally from Glen Ellyn, Illinois, he and his wife, Barb, have been full-time residents for over a decade, and he was named Fountain Hills Volunteer of the Year in 2022. He is running for re-election on fiscal responsibility, accountability, and transparency.
