Jason LaForest
Candidate for Arizona State Senate – District 5
Arizona · Legislative District 5
Statement
Serving as Chief Financial Officer for the Corporation Commission, the Department of Gaming, and the Arizona State Hospital, I witnessed firsthand systemic failures in oversight, accountability, and governance across Arizona's public institutions. These experiences shaped a core belief: when Arizonans aren't getting results, the solution isn't to blame the processes at the bottom, it's to reform systems at top. I'm running to restore professionalism, strengthen accountability, and return rules-based governance to state government. By modernizing oversight and reinforcing legislative accountability, we can reverse institutional decline and rebuild a public service that delivers for every Arizonan. Government reform motivated me to run for office, but my campaign is about more. As a Clean Elections Candidate, I will work to remove corporate money and influence from political campaigns. Arizona's initiative, referendum, and recall processes, along with vote by mail, are cornerstones of our democracy; they must be protected, and expanded in ways that meet today's voters. Above all, as an independent, I am committed to effectively representing Central Phoenix as State Senator for LD5. If you are in this district, I want to hear from you.
