I'm running for the Arizona House to solve problems. I know that may sound cliché but unlike most first-time candidates for the Legislature, I have a record of doing just that. For the last eight years, I've been serving as the Mayor of Chandler. Under my leadership, Chandler is considered one of the best run cities in the Valley. We've passed fiscally conservative budgets, paid down the cities pension obligations, fully funded and staffed our police, and lowered property tax rates every year. This success isn't mine alone but the result of a bipartisan council working together to deliver efficient services and a high quality of life. I will bring that same collaborative approach to the Legislature. Arizona's biggest issues aren't going to be solved by partisan fighting. We need to lower costs, improve public education, secure our water future, and expand the American Dream. I've been an active leader in my community for 40+ years. I've always believed our responsibility is to be focused on the Arizona we leave to future generations, so our children and grandchildren inherit a state of possibility.
Biography
Kevin Hartke has been mayor of Chandler since 2019, with his second term ending in January 2027, and served nine years on the City Council before that. He was lead pastor at Trinity Christian Fellowship in Chandler for 40 years and has lived in the city since 1985. He has served on the Maricopa Association of Governments executive committee, as president of the League of Arizona Cities and Towns, and on boards including the Arizona Commerce Authority and Greater Phoenix Economic Council. His campaign cites lower city property tax rates and pension debt payoff, and he lists small business deregulation, school choice, public safety, and border security as priorities. He and his wife, Lynne, have four children. He finished first in the July 21, 2026 Republican primary and faces Republican Janet Weninger and Democrats Racquel Armstrong and Jacob Weinberg for two seats in the November 3, 2026 general election.
