Statement
I'm running for the Arizona House to solve problems. I know that may sound cliché but unlike most first-time candidates for the Legislature, I have a record of doing just that. For the last eight years, I've been serving as the Mayor of Chandler. Under my leadership, Chandler is considered one of the best run cities in the Valley. We've passed fiscally conservative budgets, paid down the cities pension obligations, fully funded and staffed our police, and lowered property tax rates every year. This success isn't mine alone but the result of a bipartisan council working together to deliver efficient services and a high quality of life. I will bring that same collaborative approach to the Legislature. Arizona's biggest issues aren't going to be solved by partisan fighting. We need to lower costs, improve public education, secure our water future, and expand the American Dream. I've been an active leader in my community for 40+ years. I've always believed our responsibility is to be focused on the Arizona we leave to future generations, so our children and grandchildren inherit a state of possibility.
Biography
Mayor Kevin Hartke has lived in Chandler for 41 years. He has over 16 years in service as Mayor, Vice Mayor and Councilmember. He has served as a Pastor in Chandler for 40 years at Trinity Christian Fellowship. Currently he also serves on the Maricopa Association of Governments Exec Committee (past chair), Arizona League of Cities and Towns (current president), Arizona Commerce Authority, Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Chandler Chamber of Commerce Exec Board, Chandler Sister Cities Committee and For Our City Chandler Board. Kevin has been married for 44 years to Lynne. They have four children and four grandchildren.
