Biography
Matt Evans is a Phoenix native and senior software engineer who also drives part-time for Uber. He earned an associate degree from Paradise Valley Community College in 2016 and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Arizona State University in 2021. This is his third run for city office: he finished third in the 2022 District 2 race with 17.3% of the vote, and he lost the 2024 mayoral race to Mayor Kate Gallego, 62.0% to 37.8%. Evans, a registered Republican, organized Take Back Phoenix, an effort to recruit like-minded candidates for the four council seats on the 2026 ballot, although Phoenix races are nonpartisan. He is endorsed by state Rep. Joseph Chaplik. He is the father of three children.
