Statement
I am not passing through. I have lived in North Central Phoenix for 18 years. I am also not a politician, and I am not running to become one. I have spent more than 20 years building businesses and working in real estate. I will not promise things the city cannot deliver or tell residents a problem is solved when they can see that it is not. One more thing: I will answer the phone.
Biography
Michael Del Prete is the executive director of the Arizona Real Estate Investors Association. A Connecticut native, he moved to Phoenix with his family in 1997 as a teenager. He and his wife owned a hair salon at 12th Street and Glendale Avenue for 12 years, and he later built a customer-service company that grew to more than 300 employees before it was sold. He has lived in North Central Phoenix for 18 years. He is running as part of Take Back Phoenix, a slate of council candidates organized by Matt Evans, and says his business background, rather than a career in government, is central to his candidacy.

Housing Affordability
SupportsDel Prete wants to cut delays and red tape that drive up housing costs and expand homeownership for working families. On homelessness, he wants to connect people to treatment and services, enforce standards for public spaces, and measure programs by outcomes rather than dollars spent.
Election Integrity
No official stance on record.
Healthcare Access
No official stance on record.
Public Safety & Criminal Justice
SupportsDel Prete points to a shortage of about 650 police officers and District 6 EMS response times well above the national benchmark. He wants to focus on retaining officers, shift administrative work to civilian employees, and publish a monthly District 6 response-time dashboard.
"You cannot fix what you refuse to measure in public."
Energy Policy
No official stance on record.
Economic Development & Jobs
SupportsDel Prete does not support a ban on data centers. He wants developers to pay the full cost of power and water infrastructure, projects kept a meaningful distance from homes, and a real water-use standard. He would also compete for advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, healthcare, aerospace, and defense jobs.
"I am not calling for a ban. I want the projects priced honestly and placed where they belong."
Reproductive Rights
No official stance on record.
Transportation & Infrastructure
SupportsDel Prete would keep the reverse lanes but fund the 2021 city study’s recommendations for overhead lane-control signals, restriping, and better signage. He supports high-capacity transit where ridership justifies it, but says he cannot promise the I-10 light rail line while police and EMS needs come first.
"They should stay, but the city needs to make them safer and easier to understand."
Government Spending & Taxation
SupportsDel Prete criticizes recent increases to water rates, the city sales tax, and trash fees while police staffing fell. He supports performance-based budgeting, in which every program and contract has measurable outcomes that are published each year and nothing renews automatically.
"Before the city asks residents for another dollar, it should show what the last dollar delivered."
