Biography
Michael Dorland is an independent who is a certified write-in candidate whose name will not be printed on the November 3, 2026 ballot for Arizona's 6th Congressional District. According to his nomination papers, as reported by Fox 10 Phoenix, he is 57 and lives in Tucson. He works in information technology, focusing on AI integration and technology governance. Before that, he worked as a restaurant dishwasher and kitchen manager, in retail at Kmart and Walmart, and for two years as a Dell field service technician across southern Arizona; he has also owned a comic store and other small businesses. He grew up in rural South Dakota. Dorland is funding the campaign himself, takes no donations and posts his campaign ledger publicly. His platform calls for a ban on congressional stock trading and stricter revolving-door limits, public reporting of data centers' water and energy use, and restoring Congress's Office of Technology Assessment. He also wants a border-state voice in reviews of the USMCA trade agreement, a federal right-to-repair law and more non-luxury housing. The candidates printed on the ballot are Republican incumbent Juan Ciscomani, Democrat JoAnna Mendoza, Green Party nominee Gary Swing and Libertarian Jereme Peters.
