Biography
Monica Alponte is the Libertarian nominee for Arizona's 1st Congressional District. She describes herself as a retired business writer, community leader, and former co-host of a conservative TV talk show, and says she began breaking with the two major parties in 2008. She says she has spent about 21 years in community work in Arizona, including working with the county on road and driver safety and advocating for homeowner association reform. Her campaign emphasizes foreign-policy non-intervention, refusing money from foreign lobbies such as AIPAC, abolishing the IRS and the Federal Reserve, free speech, and Second Amendment rights. Alponte ran unopposed in the July 21, 2026 Libertarian primary and faces Democrat Amish Shah and Republican Jay Feely in the November 3 general election.
