Candidate for Arizona State House – District 23

Arizona · Legislative District 23

Statement

I leave the Motor Vehicle Division defeated. Despite presenting the required documents, I was denied a REAL ID because my rural tribal address didn't match a county record. I had a letter from the Federal government with the correct address, but was told to update my county-issued document. With my experience and education in government, I knew this was incorrect. Growing up on the reservation, I experienced life much differently from those in other cities. I firmly believe that no one should be turned away from State services because of where they live. This is one of many reasons why I am running for the State Legislature. In my work at the U.S. House of Representatives, I worked with 574 tribal governments and national groups to secure much-needed funding during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our district faces unique challenges, including accessibility to essential state services for rural and tribal communities. I am committed to listening to constituents and ensuring the needs of our district are at the heart of every decision I make. I value your vote and firmly believe that together, we can build a government that truly serves the people.
