Statement
I am running for State Representative in Legislative District 13 to ensure that Chandler, Sun Lakes, and Gilbert remain great places to live and work. As a former public school teacher, school administrator, and current professor at Arizona State University, I have dedicated my career to strengthening education and expanding opportunity for families. I understand firsthand the challenges our schools face and the importance of investing in strong public education from early learning through higher education. I will prioritize policies that address the rising cost of living, expand attainable housing, and support infrastructure that keeps pace with our community's growth. I will also work to expand workforce development opportunities, including apprenticeships and career and technical education, so residents can access good-paying jobs and long-term career pathways. I will bring a practical, transparent, and community-focused approach to the legislature so that our district continues to thrive for current residents and future generations.
Biography
Dr. Racquel "Rockee" Armstrong is an Assistant Professor at Arizona State University and a former K–12 teacher and school administrator and a cancer survivor. She holds a BA from Wellesley College, an MSEd from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA from The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business, and a PhD from The Ohio State University. Her career has focused on education, leadership development, and public service. Rockee lives in Chandler and is running for State Representative to support strong public education, economic opportunity, and policies that benefit working families in Chandler, Gilbert, and Sun Lakes.
