Biography
Scott Somers is Mesa's vice mayor and represents District 6, which covers southeast Mesa, on the City Council; he was elected to the District 6 seat in 2022. He has called water security his top priority, pointing to expansion of the Central Mesa Reuse Pipeline, capacity fees intended to make new development pay for itself, and infrastructure upgrades such as advanced leak detection. He supports the voter-approved Mesa 2050 General Plan's approach of targeted redevelopment in mixed-use commercial zones.
