Biography
Shawnna Bolick is the Republican incumbent State Senator for Legislative District 2 in north Phoenix. She served two terms in the Arizona House beginning in 2019, ran unsuccessfully for Secretary of State in 2022, and was appointed to the Senate in 2023. She chairs the Senate Committee on Regulatory Affairs and Government Efficiency. Although she opposes abortion, in 2024 she joined legislative Democrats in voting to repeal the state's near-total abortion ban, speaking about her own pregnancy struggles and advocating a 15-week limit instead. Her campaign highlights repeal of the residential rental tax, funding for border security and law enforcement, school funding, efforts against fentanyl and human trafficking, and animal-cruelty legislation. Her husband, Clint Bolick, is an Arizona Supreme Court justice. She won the July 21, 2026 Republican primary with about 71% of the vote and faces Democratic nominee Amelia Gallitano in the November 3, 2026 general election.
